This is an acrylic on canvas, 24"x36", framed. It was exhibited at the Leominster Art Association 39th anual exhibit where it won a the popular vote award, and then at the Fitchburg Art Museum Regional Artists Exhibition where it did not win any awards, but it did sell for $350. A little underpriced, I think, but then again, I need the money. This painting was inspired by my friend Candace's pet iguana, and I used my own photographs of him as a reference, along with botany books for the related foliage. Ultimately, I am *mostly* satisfied with this piece. It is a little stiff, and is really just an anatomy study of the animal rather than an emotive painting. If it had not sold, I planned on adding some plants, flowers or foliage to the bottom right hand corner to cover the folds of the leg which, although anatomically accurate, look a little strange in my opinion. I used liquitex acrylics with traditional oil-paint handeling, with the addition of acrylic glazes for much of the background.

The colors, lighting, and details are all extremely well done. I can't get over the color choice...so vivid and lovely! And of course, the iguana is adorable.

Shit, that must have taken ages! I usually done like nature/animal paintings, but this one is very well thought through. Harmonic and ... well, it's a great painting!
